The Fight and The Defeat

December 20, 2014

Memories flash,
And the conversations keep playing.
She’s fighting the grasp
Of emotional suffocation.

Tossing and turning
And a wet pillowcase,
She can’t close her eyes.
She knows no escape.
The night isn’t her friend.
It’s a lonely withered place.

His voice grows dimmer
And so does the light.
The light of the day,
The light of her might.
